Students from the top Jazz Ensemble at Chicago Jesuit Academy recorded it's first album at Uptown Recording Studio last week. This was the first time any of the students ever experienced being in a recording studio and they did a great job. They recorded a total of five songs and the album will be pressed real soon.

03.05.12Album Recording

The beginning stages of recording are under way for Marque's first album. All songs are originals and are a collection of pieces that have very sentimental and significant meaning to him throughout the last decade. Each tune is dedicated and inspired by those closest to him. Look forward to hearing these works to be played at Andy's Jazz Club over the next two months on Tuesday nights starting at 5pm.

04.18.11Chicago Jesuit Academy Jazz Band Fundraiser-Live at Andy's Jazz Club

I have been the Musical Director for the Chicago Jesuit Academy for two years now. Our band program reaches out to 23 students, ranging from 5th-8th grade. Our number one goal is to engage the students and have them step out of their comfort zone and try something new. Currently our jazz band is focusing on their end of the year concert/fundraiser which is to be held at Andy's Jazz Club on May 22nd. The students will perform a set in between the Tom Matta Big Band. The students are working hard and are looking forward to showcasing their talents for their parents and the public.

This has been a great year for us with our numbers growing and one of our 8th graders was accepted to the Chi Arts High School. This school stresses fine arts both visually and performing. Our program also houses a 12-15 piece drum line led by Mr. isaiah Spencer.

Keep your ears and eyes posted for video footage of this event.
