Marques Carroll follows up his debut record, "The Ancestors' Call" with another album of originals that pays tribute to his family and the many other mentors that have been an internal part of his life. This album of original music (except the standard "On Green Dolphin Street") was created at the height of the pandemic and recorded in conjunction of the first album. Consider this entire project a two part series. There is a sense of spiritual awareness in the opening and closing songs, "Sunrise" and "Sunset" that sets the tone of humbleness and awareness of the pieces that represent certain people in Marques's life that have/continue to be there with him in life. You can also hear two of these tracks on the brand new TV show, "The Bear" on HuluFX. The songs, "Larry Sings" (episode 4) and "Brother Payton BAM" (episode 8) was released this past June 23, 2022. Make sure to read the liner notes to get a full understanding of each unique tune and who inspired the melodies and feel for each one. The bonus track, "His Eye is On the Sparrow" is dedicated to Lawrence Milton Carroll (grandfather) who was the pivotal point and reason Marques stepped into music and education.
